We are saddened by the loss of Ella and Grace to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. Their mother, Jennifer, wrote this piece on Mother’s Day, and she’s allowing us to share it here.
I am a mother. I have thought all morning about what today means to me and if I even wanted to recognize it.
Today, in our own private way, I will celebrate Mother’s Day.
If we happen to cross paths, don’t be afraid to say Happy Mother’s Day to me.
Yes, it is sad, and yes, I may tear up. But you would not only be honoring me as a mother, but remembering my two little girls. That is the best Mother’s Day present I could ever hope to receive.
To all of my friends who have traveled a similar path, Happy Mother’s Day. You are not forgotten, and neither are the children who do not walk along side of you.
Today is just as much for you as it is for those who woke up to breakfast in bed and handmade cards. From one mother of angels to another, I’m thinking of you and sending you all my love.
Happy Mother’s Day.
